COVID-19 Messages from the State of Minnesota
The State of Minnesota and Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) send messages about COVID-19 directly to Minnesota residents through text messages, phone calls, and emails. Many of these messages are part of a program that provides timely and accurate information about:
- The importance of getting vaccinated.
- Where, when, and how to get a COVID-19 vaccine.
- State-sponsored vaccination incentive programs.
- Testing opportunities and the importance of regular testing.
MDH may also contact you by text message if you test positive for COVID-19.
How we contact you
Text messages
You may receive text messages from us with general or location-specific information about COVID-19. This message will include your name and may include a link to relevant online resources. When possible, texts are made available in Spanish, Somali, or Hmong.
We email residents with information about COVID-19 resources. When possible, emails are made available in Spanish, Somali, and Hmong. Emails will come from mdh.c19iep@public.govdelivery.com.
Phone calls
The MDH Call Center makes calls to answer questions and provide resources about COVID-19.
We get phone numbers and email addresses from commercially available data to contact Minnesotans. We do not use this information for any other purpose other than sharing messages about COVID-19.
We work with community partners like local public health entities, state agencies, and non-profit organizations to tailor our work to meet community needs. Since our direct outreach began in May 2021, we have sent over 25 million messages to Minnesota residents.
Scam warning: Please note that MDH will never ask for any financial information, your social security number, or insurance information during or after a case investigation. If you receive a communication from someone claiming they are MDH staff that asks for any of this information, do not provide this information to them, as it is likely a scam.
