School Health Data Resources
Minnesota Department of Education Data Center
The Minnesota Department of Education (MDE) has a wealth of information. In the MDE data center there is general information about Minnesota as a state and there are many tools to help schools understand the demographics and needs of their students. There are also tools to learn about schools in the same county or schools of similar makeup. This is also the information that is available to the public when they look to learn more about a district.
Minnesota Professional Educator Licensing and Standards Board (PELSB)
The Staff Automated Report (STAR) is completed annually by MN public school districts including charter schools. Information is collected on school staff, including school health services and the licensure of those working in the school health office.
School nurses can help to ensure accurate STAR reporting by connecting with the school staff responsible for reporting and understanding which assignment codes match school health staff and nursing licensure as appropriate. MDE-ORG lists STAR Coordinators for each district or school.
