Babesiosis Statistics
In 2022, 61 confirmed and probable babesiosis cases were reported in Minnesota. The majority of cases first experienced symptoms in June, July, or August. Cases of babesiosis are more common in older adults and people with immunocompromising conditions.
- 37 (61%) cases were males
- Median case age was 65 years (range, 4 to 87 years)
- 23 (38%) cases were hospitalized for their infection for a median duration of 4 days (range, 3 to 16 days)
