WHEREAS: Rural health care professionals, hospitals, clinics, and long-term care facilities throughout Minnesota are dedicated to delivering high-quality, community-based care to all people in Minnesota; and
WHEREAS: Rural hospitals and health systems are major employers and economic drivers of rural
communities and regions; and
WHEREAS: Rural communities are addressing their need for rural-ready health care by creating innovative partnerships with Minnesota educational institutions and care facilities to create new pathways to employment and to expand rural clinical training opportunities; and
WHEREAS: Public and private sectors are working in partnership to build, support, and maintain a robust health care system and an engaging environment to recruit and retain health care professionals serving Minnesota’s rural and underserved populations; and
WHEREAS: Emergency medical services, rural hospitals, and health systems are working in partnership to raise awareness, reduce time to treatment, and improve quality care, especially for those experiencing time-sensitive emergencies like trauma and stroke; and
WHEREAS: Meeting the health care needs of people in rural Minnesota requires commitment, innovation, and resourcefulness across geographic boundaries, demographics, and financial challenges.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, TIM WALZ, Governor of Minnesota, do hereby proclaim Thursday, November 21, 2024, as:
RURAL HEALTH DAY
in the State of Minnesota.
