Remote Nutrition Education

Providing Nutrition Education remotely:

• Benefits: Remote services are convenient for participants and can reduce barriers to participation, such as concerns with work schedules, transportation issues, and illness. Additionally, remote services provide new opportunities for scheduling that can help an agency manage caseload and staff schedules better.
• Options: Remote services maybe provided by phone, video chat, or by a self-guided program (wichealth.org). As technology advances, new options may become available!
• Requirements:
  • Nutrition Education provided remotely must meet the same requirements as in-person educations. See Nutrition Education policies in MOM, Chapter 6, Nutrition Education.
  • When providing services remotely, local agencies must protect participant private data. See:

wichealth.org is a website with numerous lessons for pregnant and breastfeeding participants and for the parents/caregivers of infants and children. The site is an option for providing additional education for participants not requiring a high-risk contact.
